Drought

There are programs and services to help you prepare for, manage and recover from drought. Learn more about getting your farm business ready for dry conditions or where to find help if you’re facing financial hardship.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry provides disaster, drought and rural support for farm businesses facing challenging times and to help prepare and grow.

Natural Disaster

Community help is available in times of emergency from natural disasters including bushfire, flood, cyclone and while preparing Australia for future disasters.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is an Australian Government organisation helping communities nationwide to plan, coordinate and prepare and recover with on the ground support in tough times including drought, natural disasters, bushfires and floods.

Biosecurity

Biosecurity efforts are critical to prevent, respond and recover from pests and diseases. If you suspect a pest or disease outbreak – report it.

People living and working on farms are often faced with economic, environmental and social pressures. For help in hard times, connect with financial and mental health rural support services.

Seek financial support  

The Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS) is an Australian Government initiative to provide free professional counselling to farm businesses and others experiencing financial difficulties or at risk of being in financial hardship. Contact the RFCS to seek support with financial knowledge, planning to get help to negotiate with lenders and find out about programs available to support with greater financial stability.
